eduroam (education roaming) är ett världsomspännande samarbete inom forsknings- och utbildningsvärlden för att kunna samutnyttja varandras trådlösa Internet (WiFi). eduroam använder sig av RADIUS och standarden 802.1x för att förmedla information om användaren från identitetsutfärdaren (användarens lärosäte) till tjänsteleverantören (lärosätet som står för det trådlösa nätverket). SWAMID är ansvarig för den svenska grenen av det internationella nätverket eduroam. eduroam är inte bara tillgängligt för forskare, lärare och studenter vid Sveriges universitet och högskolor utan även för lärare och elever vid grund- och gymnasieskolor i Sverige. eduroam (education roaming) is a worldwide cooperation in research and education to the shared use of each other’s wireless Internet (WiFi). eduroam uses RADIUS and 802.1x standard to communicate information about the user from the identity issuer (the user’s institution) to the service provider (the institution that stands for the wireless network). SWAMID is responsible for the Swedish branch of the international network eduroam. eduroam is not only available for researchers, teachers and students at Swedish universities and university colleges but also for teachers and students at primary and secondary schools in Sweden.
